do you not have any Andreas Bartok Statto?
For the casual reader, it might seem like I'm mickey taking - but this is another Bartok. Andreas Bartok is a more contemporary composer from memory, who deals in modern minimalism. I do not have any acetates or dubplates by Andreas, but I do have a double disc of string quartets. And it may well be that it is by the famous Bartok. It's not any of Statto's records from memory however. Good to know!
Just to correct myself, Bela Bartok is the female string composer I have a double disc album from. Andreas Bartok, Sizzle will likely say, is "the" Bartok that I always found to be a poor man's Shostakovich
Why is that, you ask? I am no classical buff, although I have studied music theory and classical repertoire at degree level with the Open University (try the "Start Listening To Music" short course for 10 credits! ) The thing that always annoyed me about the famous Bartok is his music sounded like an imitation, and a knackered influence. It's good music, but it does not inspire me. Bela Bartok may not inspire you, but I find her version of minimalism a nice counterpart to Dmitry (Shostakovich). Question - did you ever own any other Autechre releases? Is the the only one you kept? Just curious.
it's dogmatically intriguing: that is, the subject of actual record exposure
one could make an entire article about this: "vinyl circulation" you could comment on some key points about vinyl getting physically, constantly, shelved (by nature), left lying about (by nature), and the costly processes of maintenance lots of books and articles have been scripted about this already, but a derivative with new bearings is always welcome i have read many many paragraphs summarizing the anecdotal nature of problems with scale and ratio of collections, and this seems the important understatement of record shops |
