Right all,
What the fuck is this? I never got the name, because I wasn't really following in 1999, but this tune really did stand out from the rest when I heard it a couple times that year!

actually, I always wondered what this was too,
heard it on one of those live shows (think it was the one from a club in Sheffield - 99)
the whole afro-funk / liquid funk thing was a a questionable style at the best of times, but this track is great.
pity, this clip doesn't get to the sax thing - that's bad !
wonder if it's anything to do with the Hospital camp ?
Code Wrote:wonder if it's anything to do with the Hospital camp ?
Hmm just wondering that myself, listening to it now.
Its kinda like Peshay, but I dont think thats him...

Peshay's beats tended to be much more poker-assed in those days.
safetyboy Wrote:Grand Unified?
yes, that seems like a good guess
oh i remember this... fabster played this a lot
sounds like.. exile, peshay, beta?
Statto Wrote:safetyboy Wrote:Grand Unified?

yeah - it does, but I've never come across a release that proves it (yet)
Damn!
so we're still all in the dark so far?
i really want to find out what this is now
maybe if you email the show and ask him if its still on? he sounds like a nice guy
there were so many awesome tunes like that back then from his show that i stumbled across on various releases much later.
I was thinking peshay initially, but maybe it is an early hospital tune?.....

Ha - yeah right! I'm sure he's even worse now he's number 1 dj now.
Then again, I've only ever seen it written 'Fabio & Grooverider' never 'Grooverider & Fabio' so what the hell do I know
do you post on DOA or D&BA Ornette ?
might be someone on one of those who'll know ?

hmmm i do have an account on dnba come to think of it...
i was thinking of those shouts in the clip to 'greg' and always wondered if maybe this is by greg packer? i don't know much about his music, as he came out after i left... any opinions?

what might work ...
i think i have a copy of the set on tape (the sheffield gig) here somewhere... if i ripped it and posted it maybe ?
might get more people checking the thread and more possibility of an answer ? only thing i seem to remember the quality of some of the tape being slightly dodgy. anyways - i'll have a look around and see if i can find it !
Cheers Code!
Say, were you ever out & about djing in London around 1998? I think we may have met

wasn't greg his producer? i might be completely wrong though (not greg packer just someone called greg)
early Hospital was a bit too minimal for this tune, sounds like Primary Motive, Peshay or someone like that?
noisemonkey Wrote:early Hospital was a bit too minimal for this tune, sounds like Primary Motive, Peshay or someone like that?
was it ?
"Song In The Key of Knife" or "Plug Or Plug" for example didn't really strike me as being minimal.
- some of their other stuff was alright - like "Dirty Dozen".
it's still possible this tune was by them I think
(waits to be proven wrong)
maybe Intense? although their tunes usually involved amen, so...

They were pretty much exclusively releasing on Good Looking around this time and I think I've heard all the tracks they were doing around then, so probably not
This could be a group from sweden named CELESTIAL.
They had loads of tunes lined up for labels like 31 etc. during this time.
Unfortunatelly they split up and only one of the guy´s continued makin music.
There´s a release out on the -5 Elements- compilation on Vibez Recordings, this was one of their last productions as a full group.
I slipped Fabio a few plates with contact info...
Much Love. K

Interesting comments Krazy
Do you have any more info for them? Any clips could be cool to hear... or maybe any links you know of to any of the members. I guess you must be talking about the 1999-2000 era right.
Looks like this tune may be a difficult one to track down
