Yes mate, only the account holder can delete files. Also, uploads utilize your maximum upload speed and downloads from mediafire are pretty quick too.. no waiting about and you can download multiple files simultaneously. Only downside to free accounts is the cap on file sizes. Used to be able to upload a maximum of 100mb per file but they've now up'd it to 200mb per file... perfect for those mixes

Everyone would require an acct and the app download and besides dropbox transfer speeds are ridiculously slow!

You can create a public link a la sendspace / yousendit / mediafire blah blah blah. You don't need an account to d/l.

I didn't actually know that! Still, the transfer speeds are still ridiculously slow (mine average 25kbps on my 10mb connection) .. next to that, you're limited on acct space. Also, do you not have to have your dropbox app running in order for people to access and download files from your acct?

i use drop box all the time and do not have their app installed. i just use it like an ftp and send out public urls (like an ftp).
