ya know what the best thing is about Single Mothers releasing their debut "Negative Qualities" lp earlier this month??

not only is "Negative Qualities" one of my fave releases this year, but there's now MORE KICK ASS SINGLE MOTHERS TUNES to add to the player, so you can hear both previous ill e.p's, AND the new lp all on shuffle & shit. ya know what i mean? tunes to piss people off.

Single Mothers.. can get it. totally. imo, one of the best bands going at the moment. Yes

why let Roadside Monument (Seattle 1994 - 1998, 2003 - 2004) revel in obscurity?

yes, great band from back in the day. actually, Christian identified, post hardcore, math rock etc from Seattle, via the early days of Tooth & Nail Records. I first heard them play live on the local college radio station in Vancouver, B.C. way back when. they definitely left an impression. I was a fan from then on. their lp's are great listens, if yer into definite, math rock & post hc related stuff. If you've never had the pleasure, you might want to dig em up. ** YO, PROPS TO K Hungtinton from the youtube channel for posting this 2002 live Roadside Monument gig. it sounds great!!

Roadside Monument discography:

My Life is Green (7-inch, 1996, Tooth & Nail Records)
Beside This Brief Hexagonal (1996, Tooth & Nail Records)
Roadside Monument/Puller Split EP (1997, Tooth & Nail Records)
Eight Hours Away from Being a Man (1997, Tooth & Nail Records)
Roadside Monument / Frodus Split EP (1997, Tooth & Nail Records)
I Am the Day of Current Taste (1998, Tooth & Nail Records)

years ago, i lent my brother my Rites of Spring cd. I still haven't gotten it back.

i don't blame him.

"End on End", Rites of Spring 1985 - 1987 compilation lp (Dischord Records 1991), one of the greats, as always. you could include the 1986, One Last Wish lp (post Rites of Spring, pre-Fugazi jams) in with the Rites stuff as well. good stuff. of course, any posted live clips of Rites of Spring, and One Last Wish are gems indeed. bigs.

Cassilis - Philly, PA

Rest in Pieces (NYC) - 1985 - 1990

Sick of It All related band featuring Sick of It All drummer Armand Majidi on vocals, & Craig Stefari.

Palatka (Gainesville, FL) - 1994 - 1999

"The End of Irony" 1999 (No Idea Records). great lp from back then. there was a 2002 Palatka discography compilation that I do have, not sure if it was self released or not, or even a physical release at that. either way, good stuff for the style.

ill.

Have Mercy - "A Place of Our Own" lp, Hopeless Records, October 27, 2014

word the fuck up. http://havemercy.merchnow.com/

so yeah, basically, the new Have Mercy lp has been my morning soundtrack for the past 3 days. its good. I like it. I'm happy with it. Its Have Mercy! if they blow up commercially on any level - and they should - I wholeheartedly support it. i mean, the songs.. they have it. from day. 2 albums of pop greatness thus far. bigs.

thanks for the tunes guys. I've been listening like crazy over the past couple of years. Smile

Punk
^^ YES, Crass. I got into Crass pretty late, AFTER the fact of initial bands most peeps get into first.

Christ The Album (double cd) is one my fave records EVER!! I used to often play the entire live cd on my radioshows back in the day, it was so great. i consider it a pure work of art! I learned a lot from it. I was a breakcore dj.. long story *sigh lol*, and actually, listening to Crass kinda influenced my take on spinning breakcore back then. totally.

as an aside, in the 90's, you didn't hear or see much then current, UK post-hardcore / emo made available in NA. I first heard UK emo stuff on Southern Records back then.. from a band called Bob Tilton, an earlier 90's style UK emo band if you are unfamiliar, very Fugazi-ish. if you think about it, Southern Records literally played a part of showcasing the early UK emo too, there honestly weren't many UK emo bands that I was hearing about then. I gained another appreciation for Southern Records, & the Crass legacy from then on too. hmm.

but yeah i digress obviously ha, one of the greats. THE LIVE second disc on Christ The Album (47 mins in the youtube clip onward for anyone unfamiliar) is heaven. Smile

and YES, "Crass - Christ the Movie" is a great watch too. I liked it.

Damn, I've not played Christ The Album in years. I must get it out again. Original vinyl boxset of course Wink . Do you get the big booklet with the double CD? Smile
^^ nice. yes, the cd booklet would be in a smaller version of course heh. the larger vinyl one must be pretty cool, I've never seen it. the Christ The Album double cd booklet is pretty stacked, with all the art and such.
