The new 2024 album "Songs of A Lost World". Released yesterday. There was a 3 hour live stream of the release gig, which I watched off & on last night. I didn't catch the earlier BBC sessions tho.
I didn't like a lot of the production on the album upon first listen. But it works later on in specific dark tunes as a whole. And yes. The gloom and doom is there. The album is a good length, yet I want more.
I'm happy the album was made. Why not? I like how a continuum was executed of sorts. As The Cure do often. It makes sense to school all genres currently that see the band as a glaring influence. Many of said bands & projects that I seek out to hear said Cure inferences - everything from black metal, autonomic dnb, to r&b produced these days. I was listening to an older Mumdance mix the other week & there's full on Cure edits going on.
I approve.
