Over last weekend, I was in Leeds for a computer music conference, where there was quite a bit of discussion about new technologies, methods of study, programming choices, compositional techniques etc, as well as some really loud surround sound concerts...
Within the performances, there was a particular piece composed of 60 compositions, each 60 seconds long, written by 60 different composers from across the globe. During the piece I was thinking, us subverts write sonically interesting deep material, and could certainly put something like this together, composed of things we normally do, dont ever think of doing, or whatever (beats, no beats)- you could basically use this as a musical exercise in which to work under no constrictions, barring the 60 second time limit - with/without aliases etc.
If enough people are interested, then we can go ahead, convene, and piece it together into a cohesive work.
Basically to get the process started, the tentative date for submissions will be September 1st . Again, this can be anything you'd like...the only restrictions are that the piece be ≤ 60 seconds, and that it is interesting to you.
As indirectly mentioned above, I certainly don't claim to have come up with the concept, or the name of this conglomerate, so please feel free to offer any ideas to improve upon the idea.
Thoughts, suggestions, grievances?
