1. are we an international collective? if so, we need more contributions to the fund, and more contributions from different countries. so far we have only five contributions from england, canada, the netherlands and norway. there are people here from finland, sweden, switzerland, germany, australia, usa, new zealand, belgium,...
naphta Wrote:if you are determined to pursue this course of 'drum n bass communism' (copyright doc scott!), then you want to make fucking goddamn sure that you also aggressively use the highly unusual circumstances here as a positive point in promotion of the label... after all, a d+b label fundede by enthusiasts and dedicated to all the stuff that d+b djs are too pussy to play would make a good story for the press, especialy as a reaction to these bling-bling times....
2. should we set a minimum contribution to the subvert massive fund?
naphta Wrote:i think a minimum contribution should be suggested... we all know that more is always better, but at least the poorer types could feel ok if they can get the min. amount in....?
if yes, then i'd suggest £15 â that'd be a fiver for the first record and a tenner for the fund.
3. will the artists receive any payment at all, or are they doing it all for the love of the music? in which case are we a non-profit organisation...? in that all profits (if any) are put back into the label
opinions?
of course we want to make a profit.
then that profit goes back into the business.
However the Artists NEED paying.
50/50 label split with artist.
Label money goes back into the pot
Artist money, well its up to him/her. personally any funds i make (no matter how skint i am and believe me i AM SKINT and have been for years, never ever made a penny out of this shit!!) will go back in to what we do.
building for the future massive say aye!
I'd say a split of profits 50/50 between artist and label (or 25/25/50 artist a/artist b/label) is fair, then everyone is happy.
But then I am skint, and potentially an artist on this label, so my judgement is impaired
that's point 3 answered
what about points 1 & 2 ?
well the two label managers are in different countries........... i suppose that makes it international...........
plus all the artists are from all over.........
and yes to a minimum contribution.
Profits split 50/50
Minimum contribution of 15-20quid should be standard
It's definitely an international label without a shadow of a doubt.

not enough i think
for maximum publicity impact it should be funded from as many countries as possible â and by as many people as possible

as it will be - and some those donating from all these different countries will be the artists, hence international bizness.......
or am i just missing your point entirely?

not enough? not enough managers? people? minimum contribution?
we need representatives (or agents!!) in every fucking country that sells / produces dnb.

they're not donating if they're being paid
and anyway, artists from around the world is nothing new, especially not in dnb
but global funding is something far more unusual and hence interesting â and putting money in (even a small amount like £15) demonstrates commitment... money where mouth is etc. etc.

not enough that the managers are from two different countries, nor that the artists are from other countries
see my later post in this thread
I see what you're saying, but being paid is like reaping what you sow, no? As an artist I mean......
If people want to donate from the goodness of their heart, excellent. And the same goes for artsists who donate initially. But the artists are creating the music which generates any profit, and I feel (as a potential artist ) that (ultimately crucial) contribution should be recognised.
No profit without product, if you know what I mean.
As an aside, I would donate music anyway, paid or not, if it were to help the label along. But of course I wouldn't ever say no to getting some returns for the music I would be 'donating'......... I am only human........

ok so
maybe that can be used in publicity, but money is the thing that makes people sit up and pay attention
I agree.
It's is an International label.
Yes to a minimum contribution too. £15 Stg or 20Euro sounds fine to me.
As for the countries represented by different doners... give it time, more people will probably donate when they can.
I'm, there to contribute...I also feel a minimum contribution is necessary and the values stated seem correct.
can't wait to start promoting this exceptional concept!!

Statto Wrote:for PayPal payments in Euros there's conversion charges and Paypal transferral charges
suggest either 25 Euros (about £16) or £15 sterling
will definietely donate to the label but as i mentioned in another thread i have to wait for my next credit card bill to get paypal's oh so secret code to transfer any money via paypal. in three weeks time, i guess.

you can consider the Netherlands (me and Cromz) and Belgium (dice and karbonkid) covered i guess.
write me down anyways...im up for any help i can give ya lot.
now to reply to Statto's points..
1) agreed, as i said before there were 30+ people discussing all of this business, then when it was time for donations i think after a week only 5 people donated
2) minimum aye. i'd say the 25 euros you suggested...
3) yes, but im not label manager of Subvert Central, but if my opinion counts, yes. i guess its healthy, that way the label works like any other label should....
