cheers Dave.. I'll PM u
hope you start feeling better soon
*cringe*
hope you feel well soon! Im sorry mate, i know how it feels, i I had injections of all sorts for chronic pain, last time i had an injection in my back to help it got worse and i was in sooo much more pain, i was afraid i wasnt gonna ever get feeling there again or walk. I know how frustrating it is to deal with the medical society when really they dont know anything about pain at all. Yes try a chiropractor, particularly one who is trained well. I truly find results with this school of thought in chiropractic, there is a search for uk practitioners. http://www.sotoeurope.org/index.html Here is more info on it http://www.sorsi.com/improve-with-sot Annastay Wrote: cheers I do think i am passed the stage for any intervention by a chiropractor tho.. 4 tonnes of titanium in my back probably wouldnt respond so kindly to bodily manipulations Spoke to Trax about this.. gonna speak with my surgeon on monday and see what he reckons.. whether its a consideration i should take into acct or not. as it stands, he reckons having been suffering for about 16 years now with this crap that i've developed chronic artheritis in the spine on top of it all (would explain all the crunching lol) well.. will find out monday bout this approach and whether or not its too late to pursue it. cheers for the info @ socialengineer: cheers mate
Sorry to hear man. Hope things take a turn for the better soon.
cheers Leafy
wtf? sorry to hear that, man. 16 years ago? you were still young then! () but, seriously - what happened? got a lot of back pain at times, but never thought many others my age had to deal with it.
me & my siblings have all had the same problem. Prolapsed discs in the lower back. my case was a little worse being the NHS took so long to sort things out (plus the up&down life i've had) so my discs not only prolapsed but degenerated and split into peices. when they were removed they were literally scrapping away a mushy residue. the surgeon wanted to try a relatively new approach to replacing them and gave me a hybrid operation. in the knowledge that a fusion of 4 vertebrae would render me pretty rigid and significantly impact my dexterity, he opted for a fusion of two vertebrae and a replacement of the lower disc with a titanium disc.. sorta looks a bit like this.. though i have more rods and plating.
because of all the wearing down that has occurred over the years, the muscles around the area have lost around 40% of their mass. The sciatic nerves to both legs have been heavily effected by all this which limits my mobility quite a bit and since the operation last december have remained in this state as too have the pain levels in the spinal area, in fact these have increased somewhat. So the surgeon reckons my sciatic nerves are now permanently damaged as well. .. happy times!
bloody hell, mate
I too have a prolapsed disc in the lower back, but doc said it's "on the front side", which supposedly isn't too big a problem But I get the feeling I should probably pay more attention to it Seriously hope you find at least a way to keep things from getting worse! (although I'd rather use a :neutralhugs: here if it existed) impressive pic btw cycom Wrote:bloody hell, mate well not all prolapsed discs are considered needy of operation. all depends on how prolapsed they are and how much pain its causing you. Discs generally prolapse forward so its not unusual in any way though i find what your doctor has told u a little disturbing.. any prolapse is not a good thing and a forward prolapse puts u at potential risk of nerves being afflicted. action, thru invasive procedure or otherwise will generally be considered when a disc prolapses to an extent that they are touching/resting on the nerves infront of the spine which extend to your lower abdomen/legs or if the discs themselves are degenerating. As per some of the advice given here.. may be worth consulting a chiropractor about it, if anything for just the secondary opinion. It can occur that discs that have prolapsed can return to a normal state, chiropractors methods can help in that area but sometimes the body's own ability kicks in and sorts itself out. What i will say is.. if the situation deteriorates.. find out all your options and consider them carefully. I stupidly played myself into the hands of the surgeons and kinda wish i hadnt now. cycom Wrote:wtf? sorry to hear that, man. 16 years ago? you were still young then! Same here, usually never hear about anyone around my age going through similar shit. ...Ive had serious pain in all my muscles and ligaments ... since i was 17 yrs old. Got so bad now i cant really raise my arm long enough in position of computer for over small period of time with out severe pain and had to stop making beats and playing drums...Hopefully in time will be able to start again, but have to retrain and strengthen. antidote uk Wrote:find out all your options and consider them carefully.
