i have the rm800
it's big, sounds nice to me,
one thing that got me is that you cant set all the buses to one out, unless i'm missing somthing, naaa.

I keep reading positive things about the rm 800's sound, but that its routing can be kinda confusing. I have no idea what it's like on the onyx 1620.

the onyx has a 4-band eq (ive never used anything other than 3). If the differences in the band-eq's and routing arent substantial differences, then I think I'm swinging towards the RM 800. Would anybody with an Onyx share some insight? I think there's a few Onyx owners in the forum.

I thought about picking up a Mackie 24-8.
the $400 local one has 5 failed chans and two scratchy pots, so it 's not really in consideration, but the other one - $700 pick up only (and 10 hours in a car[/w my fuckin' ex!].). A 24-8 is kinda overkill at the moment, but might not be a few years down the road...

man, I should have titled this thread differently.

oh yeah the eq sweep is nice. like u say, u need to hear from some mackie users tho. i would of thought the mackie desk would be nice.
i have a mackie 16:4:2. i probably should use it more than a £500 volume control, but the eq's are nice enough for drastic changes, like total bass cuts, and boosting the low mid and doing eq sweeps. not that great for little changes but i do that in the box.
