when I first started buying jungle / dnb vinyl for djing, this was one of the first few jungle/dnb vinyl purchases I ever made. I never bought any of the other Sm: )e Communications vinyl releases at the time. I played the Jason Jinx & Look Jerk Sound System tunes lots, and actually learned to mix jungle / dnb breaks using those tunes, mixed in with random cd tracks, Metalheadz vinyl & whatnot. heh.

Stateside tunes. I just noticed & remembered the Warriors sample in the "Warrior's Theme" tune, I haven't heard this in decades. props to the youtube host! cheers.

Various - NY Jungle e.p. - 10" vinyl, 1995, Sm: )e Communications

Xyxthumbs Nice post Grin
checking out early Phat Trax joints this weekend. I was into Trouble On Vinyl stuff, but have never really listened to early Phat Trax releases. back then, depending on where you located, a lot of tunes didn't make it into record shops in NA, it all depended on who was working @ said record shops, ordering the tunes in, etc. like early Phat Trax stuff, which I do not remember seeing in my local shops @ the time. interesting listens. Smile

who was "Stonecold"?

Phat Trax 01 & earlier Maldini tunes from '96

The Rude Boy Project (Symphony Sound 1993)

aka. Bay B Kane & S. Marston

Just been to the gym and on my way out I noticed what sounded like an oldskool bassline throbbing through the wall. As I passed the corner I looked in the room to find a pensioners spinclass (or some such thing) and the old dears were rocking it out to Baby D - Let me be your Fantasy, the mid-section with the hard synth melody Hahaha

I've just come across this tune at blogtotheoldskool.com

Dance

Some more NRG/Chill goodness:
This one is also one of Bogwoppa's finest:
I still have my cd copy of the dj Randall mix, "Renegade Selector Series 2", which is the first jungle mix cd I was entirely obsessed with. I've never heard the "Renegade Selector Series 1" until NOW. Listening as I post. Smile

Randall always had the right flow, didn't he? Always. Randall "Renegade Selector Series 2" was where I"m sure I first heard Omni Trio tunes rinsed intricately in a mix, perfect blends of the vocal samples & atmos vibes. Good times.

And there was volume 2 https://www.discogs.com/Various-Renegade...5607?ev=rr which is the only release which contains Van Kleef remix of Foul Play's Being With You, which is imo the best by far version of this tune

Love these breakbeats, and that drop in the middle which sounds like it was taken from a tune made one year earlier makes this remix very special to me. Don't think it was released anywhere else?
^^ yes yes!

Seriously. I live for this mix, still, 22 years later Smile !  I do believe I heard my first Dillinja tune ever as well, with the opening tune. As mentioned, I was more than a bit obsessed with this mix. It is very well done.

** Edit, on the cd version, the Omni Trio tunes were included as bonus tunes, after the Randall mix, NOT included in the mix! But yeah, still the first place I ever heard Omni Trio stuff, via those bonus tunes on the second cd. Foul Play "Being With You" Van Kleef remix, mixed into Chimera "Deeper"... so good. Dj Gunshot "Wheel & Deal"remix - with Nico, blew my mind.
