Unreleased Dillinja tunes (Dillinja is usually not my cup of tea but DAMN)

I have rarely heard anything I like from Dillinja, but these unreleased tunes of his sound amazing at least based on the clips. WHY didn't this stuff get released?

I'd love to get my hands on the full tunes, but I doubt that's going to happen. Damn that dubplate bloke from Soundcloud, he has the dubplate of Deep at least. (https://soundcloud.com/dubplates-vinyls) But he's not going to upload anything or let that one go.

I wonder how much other good stuff there is out there that didn't get released. Any thoughts or experiences on the matter? Feel free to post clips of other unreleased stuff that's good, if you have any.

(offtopic rant: I can't find any new (new for me, not release date-wise) jungle I like. These clips are my only salvation for scratching the itch that I can not get scratched normally. Any ideas?)
He produced a lot!

This is my favourite unreleased Dillinja tune by far: http://drumtrip.co.uk/tuneoftheday/dilli...eased-mix/

You: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lHBp6gPsg4 (only on an LP test press)

In My Soul: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5fyue_XrXPo (misspress promo of Stompers Delight)

There are a couple of bits that did get released on obscure compilations too but never found a proper 12"

Deepa: http://www.rolldabeats.com/track/24269/dillinja-deepa (no audio)

Another called "Break It Down"

Could be Dillinja. 1994.

Follow me I like the most out of these! Thank you for the links, greatly appreciated. Yeah that version of Deady Deep Subs was definitely better than other version I've heard of it, by far.

Helloooo ornsman! Wave

Thanks for the link. For me the 96 Dillinja stuff doesn't cut it. Too repetitive and too simple. Maybe I'm missing some amazing tunes, absolutely possible.
1996 - Silver Blade and Threshold.

His two best tunes.

Paradise, from 1996 is a big fave of mine.

This has really stuck with me over the years. I should get around to picking up a copy at some point.

Those breaks sound like Dom had something to do with them.

Anyone have audio for the dubplate mix of this?
Is that Fusion? (I'm on my mobile)

There's two dubplate mixes of that, including one that only came up recently. Harmony has one currently labelled as Fusion but thats not it, thats something different, something that was previously referred to as 'Dillinja's Mission'

This is one of them

Yup, Fusion.

Interesting mix, really deep. I can see why it never got a release, not exactly a floor filler.

thanks man Smile

i wonder what the other one sounds like
On a 96 / 97 tip: Voice http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HeyRNQ2DZOc

One of my all time underrated tracks. Sums up that dark period before it got all two step and rolling post 1998.

I always thought Fusion was a tune he did around 1996/97 and didn't get released until 2003? Never a huge fan of that one.
I wasn't able to listen to Paradise, but I checked all other links posted so far from the 96/97 era. Guys, these are not bad tunes, I like hard DnB with nasty basslines and everything, but they are still as repetitive as it comes. The beats are repetitive and so is the bassline. I like them, but the repetition gets boring in the long run, for me anyway.

Nonetheless, I appreciate the links and a lot of these were tunes I haven't heard (at least in a while), and don't mind listening to every once in a while.

I'm not sure if this a dig or not? Or are you just saying "This is how it is" ?

DnB doesn't need to repetitive to be danceable, so I don't get your point.
What youre describing is basically the difference between jungle, & drum and bass, often lamented and often discussed at great length here.

No, not a dig at all!
I think repetition defines dance music. People can't dance to crazy and unexpected time signatures. I wouldn't know when and what foot to skank.
But it depends on what your definition of 'repetitive' is. Dance music is repetitive to me, not pejoratively, just because its nearly always 4 beats to the bar and in 16/32 bar phases.
Unless when say 'repetitive' you mean a two-step drum pattern and a simple bassline / melody all the way through a track? I agree there.

Yeah, I'm sure that's what it is. My problem isn't what they're called though, my problem is that there isn't enough of the non-repetitive stuff. Lol

Thanks for clarifying! Yes I agree, dance music does need repetition. What I'm talking about doesn't have to be a two-step drum pattern (although yeah being 2-step doesn't help), my issue is a _simple_ and short drum pattern with little to no variation, and the same for the bassline. But again, the tunes posted in this thread are good tracks and they absolutely have their place in the world. I don't always want to be intellectually stimulated, sometimes a hard simple track is just the right thing.

I'm just sad there isn't a lot of the more complex stuff out there, of it there is, it's hard to find, and it seems a lot of it didn't get released for one reason or another. (See the tunes I linked to in my first post) Icon_cry

Some examples of stuff that to me is absolutely danceable, but the beats have variation and the repetitive phrases aren't quite so short:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNyTKhoI2Vk (Krust - Burning 2000 - Lemon D remix) (The original by Krust is excellent as well) (This one has a bit more repetition than the examples below, but the variations in the beats and the overall song structure rescue it for most parts)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rxQwg7vnng (J Majik - Your Sound)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DF06vhEwOeo (Paradox - A Certain Sound)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_lAQp0_nteA (Seba & Paradox - Sound on Sound) (This one has a lot of short-phrase repetition, but the beat cuts break that up very nicely)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQPsyR93oQw (The Truper - Street Beats Vol 2)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-BmHD0z9A2E (The Sentinel - Awakening)

There's a lot of drumfunk coming out now where there's a lot of variation, but I've had a helluva time finding stuff where they have more focus on interaction between sounds instead of say an ambient soundscape in the background.

Again, what you are describing is the difference between 'jungle' & drum and bass. It has a lot to do with the rave ethos being lost

Its true that a lot of the new stuff has lots of variation on beats, but little on sounds. But there are some that are beginning to master that, in particular some of Ricky Force's stuff I've heard is 'getting' that ineffable quaity, no disrespect to anyone else but its just something I've heard in some of his work

absolutely; after a while the latter gets pretty boring.
Law Wrote:1996 - Silver Blade and Threshold.

His two best tunes.

Silver blade on Prototype years is TOOO BAD. One of my favourites.

I quite like this I picked up on a sampler > http://www.discogs.com/Peshay-Dillinja-H...ease/20011

another fav of mine is the 'you don't know' remix Hypno
Love the intro on In The Mood. Then it goes a little bit generic when it drops. I like it but there are better Dillinja tunes. Great intro though.

Yes I agree, I do see work being done in that front. It's funny, it's like a lost artform already, and it's only been like a bit over 10 years. Icon_razz

Yes

Agreed, although I think there a quite a few artists that are standing out for me personally and are up there with Ricky, and I would include Speak's own productions in there too Smile
