i believe that a split 12" arrangement helps the sales as well as the unknown dude's profile.
even if the first few releases are top notch, someone who has bought might buy them on the strength of ao/blue's name, then disregard anything by someone they ain't heard of, like polska (a crime to ignore), or even *ahem* myself..........

AO: Yes, got a CD from Sileni but nearly everything on it was signed.
I was really into the 4 tracks that weren't though!
"Pressing Buttons" - brillant beatzy piece - with some manical robotic looping in thebackground...
"Another Track" - quirky as fuck piece! This is what Subvert Central is all about!
"Random Intro" - no beats at all... but gorgeous.
"Bouncing ???? Fragments" - live sounding downtempo that I'm really into.
Would love to take these for a Sileni 4 tracker.

I reckon once we get past SC 004 it is time to showcase the people that haven't had any releases (or not many)... so Polska on 005, and then Fanu / Sileni on SC 006 / 007.

yeah, i see the point yer making on having fanu or polska or some of the lesser known producers further up the list...
but to me they make tracks that are more suited to an ep style release (3, 4 or 5 tracks) ... polska's has such range i think he needs a whole 12" to himself so that people can see what he's about. same with fanu and sileni.

i get your point - really - and i ain't writing this to be a pain, but:
i agree polska has a wide range of material, and lordy knows i would love to see a polska ep. but seeing as how we are on about 'the big names' being used to push the label, i think a polska ep would not sell as well as it deserves to, simply as there isn't 'a big name' on it. plus even an ep wouldn't do justice to the scale and breadth of the man's style. 
get my drift? if there is an ao/polska release, people would be 'tricked' as it were, into buying polska, and then would probably realise how bloody brilliant the man is. an ep released after that would then show off his skills and would stand a better chance of selling more copies.......
that's my thoughts - like i say, not just bitching for the sake of bitching, i must have just misunderstood when i read all the posts before.........

True Macc. It is easy to forget if you are hanging about on SC and IDNB etc that the majority of DNB heads have NEVER heard of polska - even DnB heads with decent taste. i mean he hasn't had a single DnB release yet!

not ao though. i think something by fracture and neptune (in the vein of "a glass world") would fit better... hmmm maybe we could alter release 4 to be fracture & neptune / polska.

also, remember polska has an ep coming on inperspective, although it's unlikely to be out before polska on sc... if it was though, i think his profile would be enough then to warrant a solo sc release. do ya agree???
You could easily raise Polska's profile just by taking pics/flyers/video footage of his past live gigs & dj'ing gigs to adding small clips of his tunes over the top & knocking up a little promo video that could b shown on this site(?)& any other d&b sites that were willing to host it as well as sites with a more 'Eclectic' clientel.Also have it sent to various press folk,promoters,etc...
Infact you could a longer version with quite a few of the up& comers like Fracture & Neptune & 0=0 who do gigs & could get footage/clips of their sets.
It's just setting aside the time to gather all the material needed & putting it together that's the problem?

Names/establishment-edness aside, I don't think the label should start as a Blue/AO show. While showing we have big names, I think there is a big well of talent on here that should be pushed from at the very very latest release 2 or 3. The big name will do the selling, the small name do the eye-opening........
If the intention is to get subversive (and subvert's) music out there, why not start exactly as you mean to go on?
The first 5 (maybe more) releases on Outsider have Paradox on one side, and other artists on the other side. SC could follow a similar model, but have different/varying 'big names' to pull in the crowds, which could be even better than having just one dude on the other side.
When I speak to Dev I will see if he is up for SC, if he doesn't know about it already........

I agree with you to an extent Macc... though I'd like to have the balance of each 12" right. I really want to get this AO material out there because IT HAS BEEN TOO FUCKING LONG since there has been a tune worthy of the name out there. He's done soooo many amazing tracks recently, we have to start getting them out asap before (a) they are snapped up and (b) the next batch come along..
But there's no reason why 1 or 2 of the first 3 releases shouldn't showcase the small guys...
That's why I really can't wait to hear the tune Naphta did for Droppin' Science... I should have it soon hopefully. If it's good, I'd love to see it alongside Blue on SC002.

Anyhow - DON'T WORRY! I know it's easy for me to say but be patient! We WILL put out some MACC material. I know it seems like an age before it will actually get released but look at it this way - your that bit closer to having more of your music released!
Yeah, man, I know, patience is not a problem - my Outsider release should have been out 4 or 5 months ago.  
Every now and then I have a bad day where I get fukt off with it all, doing shitty data entry to make ends meet when there are cunts like Simon Cowell raking it in. Cunts.
Anyway, I ain't doing this to be an attention seeker or anything, just in the modd to chivvy some people up and make sure things are moving, get my spanner in the works etc.
Serious, Code, people who know me know I ain't miserable - but seeing people like Fracture and Neptune being fukt about when they should be fucking millionaires (if only talent were proportional to earnings) PISSES ME OFF. It ain't you fukking them about, it is all other twats, but you/SC has the opportunity to push these people.
So when I am in this sort of mood I tell people what the FUCK I think and try to get things moving a little more, and maybe in the right direction.
Hopefully without pissing people right off, though.
