very good. Killing Joke inflections abound, imo. production is pretty clean.

it's not late, it's 9:20 in the morning Icon_razz
^^ heh. I know. sleep hasn't happened yet. went out for dinner earlier *yesterday night* now, up late finishing laundry, watching the OFF! vid. heh.

so yeah, as mentioned in the OFF! live vid above ^^, Keith Morris lives by this first Gun Club lp, and elsewhere it seems. all good. I concur, by Keith's word.

Taken from the "Decline of Western Civilization" commentary here http://noisey.vice.com/en_au/blog/de...history-part-I

"...Keith Morris: I had a role in booking the bands for the show The Circle Jerks played that ended up in the film. It was Fear, The Alice Bag Band, The Circle Jerks, The Gun Club, The Urinals and The Gears. I understand footage of The Gears from that night is in the extra footage of the DVD. I love The Gears, but The Gun Club really should have been on there. In regards to their recorded output and the influence, The Gun Club had influence on anyone from The Cramps to Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds to The Scientists; it’s overwhelming. They could have put in The Middle Class in there too…we could go on and on! I can still think of twenty or thirty other bands that could have been in there..."

I didn't get my ass in gear to snag tickets to see SUMAC live this weekend. gutted, but, they'll be back, as they could be considered a local band of sorts.

SUMAC touring with Neurosis this summer in August as well for select dates. I had a chance to see ISIS live back in their heyday, Aaron Turner al day. SUMAC is it.

My thoughts on the new Refused "Freedom" lp, have you heard it yet?

https://refused.bandcamp.com/album/freedom

I like it. the ideas are complete, its a Refused record, sometimes maybe too formulaic @ times in the standard Refused fashion, but it IS their game, they can do shit like that. Refused created their own niche from jump right? at its best, "Freedom" is an entirely commercial sounding record, which is good, as it really does sound like the next logical step from "The Shape of Punk to Come". It has been 17 years since "The Shape of Punk to Come", lots of music has come & gone. No matter what is said, Refused changed shit, punk / hc of many stripes would not be here 17 years later without it all. in the midst, Refused have picked up a lot of fans in their absence, and will no doubt gain even more new fans from the new lp. nothing wrong with that.

"Freedom" will be played on commercial radio, it SHOULD be played on commercial radio. as a commercial record, its that good, it WILL appeal to many people. I think the production is great. Refused & Taylor Swift now share production credits, which might be the shocker.. or not. In a way, in the future (??), I want Refused to go even further out there. fuck genres, fuck expectations, just kick out the jams. Smile

I WANT TO HEAR THIS NEW LP IN THE CAR!!!

** Refused will be LIVE STREAMING from Open`er Festival, July 2, 2015 at 2:30 PST / 5:30 EST / 11:30 CET on http://officialrefused.com/

Korean television must be cool.

"...October 2014 was a surreal month. Touche Amore did a short Japan tour alongside Envy who are without a doubt a favorite band and inspiration to us. When this tour was being booked we were contacted about playing Seoul South Korea. We jumped at the opportunity as we’d never been there. We were given the opportunity to play a late night show but also an afternoon live TV performance on the station EBS (Educational Broadcasting System). The footage was recently found by Tre at Deathwish Inc. So here it is!.."

ok ok, we can talk about Conor Oberst here.

Why? Cuz there is a new Desaparecidos lp called "Payola" kicking about. and summer is a great time to bomb a Walmart right?

https://desaparecidos.bandcamp.com/

See, me & Conor go way back.

Yes, I was a Commander Venus fan, i liked some of the earlier Bright Eyes stuff, I may have even checked out The Faint for a month or two, and then Conor Oberst screamed his head off so elegantly in Desaparecidos, who pretty much put out one of the greatest records ever in the "Read Music / Speak Spanish" lp back in 2002. Good times. "Read Music / Speak Spanish" is still the perfect poppy, snotty, noisy mess of all time. I go deep with that record, cool?

Bright Eyes got boring... or i stopped listening. See, Conor can play different sides of his efforts when he wants to. I just very much prefer Conor when he's screaming his head off. that's the Conor i like. *Conor Oberst makes GREAT punk rock*. did you hear me? he really does. he also knows how to write a great pop tune, and scream through distortion so effortlessly, like, he's spitting right on you while you are careful to catch the beat & keep bopping along, ya know? Its punk.

the past couple of Desaparecidos e.p's & random posts of new songs over the years have all been great, and some of those tunes are on the new lp. I've been keeping my eye & ear out for new Desaparecidos action along the way. they delivered! the new Desaparecidos lp will guarantee a space on my player, alongside "Read Music / Speak Spanish", and together, on shuffle, will present to me, the Conor Oberst that I love.

its nice to hear you scream again Conor.

boh?
