I could tear apart the LeatherFace discography and gush over heaps & hours of music, but I can honestly say that the BYO, Hot Water Music split from 1999 is perhaps some of the greatest tunes Frankie Stubbs & crew have belted out EVER. The release represents a specific era in my time, and I got my brother heavy into Leatherface, perhaps my brother became even more of a Leatherface fan than myself. That happens a lot with him.
I fuckin love this release. Frankie Stubbs for prez! I owe the mon Stubbs TONS of thanks over the decades. The music.. the music. Its a gift. bigs.
Unfortunate circumstance learning that Dickie Hammond (Leatherface, HEX, Angelic Upstarts, HDQ) died this past October 2015, just as the HEX 1980's demo were re-issued late October, 2015. I've been getting into the HDQ stuff as of late, 1980's stuff onwards, pre-Leatherface, Dickie Hammond action et all. HDQ recently reunited in 2013, and put out the "Lost In Translation" lp. Some good, melodic hc / pop punk bits for sure over the decades. Catching up as I post. Soundtrack for my weekend here. Cheers.

I've watched a fair share of the Hate5six live recorded vids over the years. Always a pleasure. I must say, this American Nightmare set is one of the best live captured vids from the Hate5six camp I've seen. Great quality. Indeed.
Of course, American Nightmare (Give Up the Ghost), one of the better reunions within recent years. A successful reunion at that, no doubt. Keeping the fans happy. I preferred the earlier 2001, "Background Music" (Equal Vision) lp myself. boh! https://bridge9.bandcamp.com/album/year-one
I'm listening to Karate as I post. I haven't followed much Geoff Farina stuff outside of the earlier Karate releases, even though I've been aware of his solo stuff of & on. I'm a fan tho. Specific Karate releases were enjoyed in my time. I was down.
Some good bits for sure. "The Bed is the Ocean"lp is one my faves out of the earlier Karate releases. It was very cohesive music.
Rope (ex-GoodtimeBoys, UK)
looking forward to the forthcoming, debut lp in 2016 http://palmreaderrecords.bandcamp.com/album/rope
I mean.. just the comments alone. lol.
"..I'm not listening to this to headbang, I'm listening so I can perpetuate the cold, depressive winter that occupies the cavity in which my soul once resided so that I hopefully can incur some kind of phoenix-like epiphany of enlightenment. For it is only in the crucible of our somber, silent and solitary misanthropy that we can mediate on humanity's self-damning and all-consuming cannibalism. Bands like Mgla can aid us in this process, with the ultimate aim of us slashing the ouroboros and gordian knot of our masochistic habitual behaviors. So in other words, shit's fire, son.. "..mmmm, this just might be the best black metal album of the year ...can´t stop dancing to this naked with my penis tucked in Silence of the lambs style" But yeah, this is pretty good tho. https://no-solace.bandcamp.com/album/exe...ty-lp-2015
RIWEN - Umea, Sweden
http://www.indierecordings.no/riwen ...It’s a short and simple story: I got fed up with the big productions and long sound checks that comes with Cult of Luna. So, it’s back to the roots of my salad days in Umeå. I decided to write 14 songs in 14 days inspired by the bands I worshiped as vegan straight edge punk kid: Judge, Battery, Integrity, ACME and Damnation AD. The concept is to not spend 1 000 days in the studio and nitpick over every drumbeat and production details. The musical destruction has to be alive and direct, tailor-made to induce mosh mayhem and walls of death. I hooked up with Fredrik and Christian, both with a past in the crust/grind terror force Totalt Jävla Mörker. One rehearsal sealed the deal and we recorded three tracks in one night about to be released as a 10 inch vinyl on the Norwegian metal label Indie Recordings. Adding guitar player Marita and bass player Christoffer 138 (DS-13, AC4, Epileptic Terror Attack, Sonic Ritual etc) the lineup was complete. And thus, we are ready to slam dance all over the world. Are you ready? Tonight we ride! Umeaå August 2014 – Johannes Persson |
