as a Morrissey fan, I reckon his days are done. i don't rate much of the 2014 "World Peace is None of Your Business" lp.. at all.

there's still 2, or almost 3 decades of previous Moz related catalog to dig up if & when, otherwise.. thanks for the tunes sir.

Ah right, Morrissey..... I got a love/hate relationship with his music. Like some of his solo stuff, liked some Smith's stuff as well. However, as a person, he seems to be quite an unpleasent character.

So....someone uploaded the whole album on youtube. Let's just say I stopped after track three.
Very play-safe-as-possible mainstream rock sounding like much of the chart fodder in the mid-late 80s.

Do we think there are more comebacks this year than any other year particularly?
Düffah Wrote:Do we think there are more comebacks this year than any other year particularly?

I don't keep exact tabs on that phenomenon but since I am myself becoming an old fart (mid30s, into music since early teens) I notice of bands/musicians making comebacks simply bc I know them from back in the day already.

But I think this trend indeed intensified the last few years.

One big reason I think is those bands/musicians often still have a big loyal fanbase that is still willing to actually pay for the music in one way or the other (be it attending concerts and paying for downloads/CDs or even those fairly expensive deluxe editions of multi-Vinyl/Multi CD/DVD packages. Of course, that is also being pushed a bit by the music industry.

Another old boy coming back:

Holly Johnson (of Frankie Goes to Hollywood fame). New LP after 15 year hiatus.

Title "Europe". There are a few clips on youtube. Musically, it's totally "authentic" 80s synthpop. The album come with lots of remixes. The youtube links I briefly checked however have a very small number of views, so I take it, Holly Johnsons popularity is not what it used to be these days.

Wow, now Giorgio Moroder, aged 74, announces first solo album since 30 years. Title: "74 is the new 24"

the thought of that actually made me chuckle

Hahaha
And there is yet another comeback, one that I might enjoy:

Faith No More announcing new album after 18 year hiatus.

And it continues....

Detroit Techno Pioneer Juan Atkins to revive his Model 500 moniker for first new album after 16 year hiatus.

that's just reviving an old alias though, rather than him going away for 16 years
The Pop Group announcing new album after 35 year hiatus.

I'll listen it.

My default position to reunions is somewhere between Neutral and Roll, but I'll add Chin for The Pop Group

Damn, it's cheesy as hell and all. But I can't help it, I like it osmehow. Maybe it's just that I find it somewhat amazing the guy, aged 74, is still capable of istigsating some responses within the (pop)music world.

OK, after some 2014 review business I am currently engaged in I have to say, by far the best (in fact pretty much the only good) comeback of several Old Boys is Godflesh with their awesome album "A World Lit Only By Fire".

Not really away, though their latest album was released in 2009.

The Prodigy - first single "Nasty" of the new album due in March

I actually like it.
Music critic for the Tally Ho
^^ its alright for Prodigy standards i guess. one thing i can give em is that Prodigy are one band that can still hang, and deliver. on one hand they're entirely old school in performance, the rave mc's, hype men still doing their thing, rumbling over the beats. nothing has changed there, from day. on the other, they remain current, just by existing, and delivering the goods & energy in the tunes, and live shows, which is what its all about. i assume they're NOT doing dubstep or trill shit to pander to the kids?? in a way, its all still hardcore right?

I have a buddy who's a bit older, who's never had any detailed interest in electronic music whatsoever, dj's, etc, but has heard the tunes like everyone else since the 90's electronica craze, including The Prodigy of course. dude is a fan, which says something. The Prodigy appeal to rock fans, which is a good thing imo. decades on, to be able to translate to other tastes or demographics outside of the electronic world. good on em. Smile
One would have to include Wu Tang Clan here as well I suppose and their new album "A Better Tomorrow"

http://wutangclan.warnerbrosrecords.com/...orrow28th/

However, I never cared for them at all despite the fact I used to listen to shitloads of early-mid 90s HipHop.

Yeah, they're crap :andy:
Some of the old boys.... Draw your own conclusions here:

Paul McCartney, Kayne West and Rhianna in a thresome (of sort...):

The Afghan Whigs released a comeback album as well in 2014. I always quite liked them, although never went apeshit over them.

Here's a song of the new/current album "Do To The Beast":
