there were still some erratic beats in techstep through the first half of 1998 but for the most part it began to become more minimal and hed into "two-step" territory. 1996-1997 techstep was much more interesting. I've always thought it was a gross misnomer for Ed Rush to say that he pioneered the twostep form of drum n' bass called techstep. That's not to say he didn't pioneer techstep, but he's conveniently lumping two distinct sounds in as one genre. While there may've been some two step arrangements to a degree in some of his older releases, the No U Turn sound is extremely different than the stuff he would go onto release with Optical from 1998 forward. It's a different stylee altogether. An inferior one as well, the neuro twostep that is.

i have the utmost respect for Grooverider. He's just as important as Goldie if not more so in many ways. Great and influential DJ (who's been around prior to dance being divided into genres) and also produced some classic old jungle moments (i.e. Intawarriors). Prototype Years compilation is his greatest contribution to the movement IMHO. That comp LP changed my life. It, Platinum Breakz 1 & 2, and Torque are the most important dnb longplayers IMHO. I liked the mysteries of funk lp pretty well myself and let's not forget his "warning" 12" on headz.

Yes

Having a listen now. 560 degrees Falcon
charade remix even tho it has to be optical really...but still an all time fave

cubic remix...SICK

Share the Fall jeep remix : sick

belive : Goldie (GR remix...a 10 min tune...the first 5 mins..pretty waste, but the second half is fucking ace!)

sinister : grooveruder remix (my fucking god!!!!)

terrorist : grooverider remix (a million times better than the original)

i could go on and on and on, but i wont.

anyways...now totally uninfluential..i dont pay attention to anything he says or does or wears anymore lol

but...i will still always play a lot of his (and whichever engineer...mainly optical) tunes form the era of 93-98.

boh

This is a warning on metalheadz is Falcon
Rainbows of colour is Falcon

NOT influencial now.....but back in the day....the 2-4am radio 1 show was THE single influence that got me into dnb.....

He made me realise that ed rush / optical / dillinja etc. etc. even existed

Thank you Grooverider. Yes Xyxthumbs
Rider made some tuff beats - warning, terrorist remix was a hardstep SLAMMER!

but it was all about the radio show really, not living in london it was the main source for jungle. well all the kiss shows were but for a period Rider had the best dubs.. so many nights fucked off my face on lungs sat in a car listening to the show Grin

in fact real epiphany moment sat mashed up in the car and Rider drew 'you dont know remix' and lemons 'dont make me wait' back to back.. it was the first time id heard all that serious low pass filter stuff and it done me in properly! if anyone has that show on tape please please please hook me up!

this show was another favourite of mine

https://rcpt.yousendit.com/808919270/9dc...2c9b6cf859

first airing of Saint Angel, plus water margin, guncheck, i Neil Trix i dont wanna live (amazing tune!) and much much more Smile and who knows about the 'jungle in the castle' adverts?!

so basically, Rider was a don!

not a massive fan of Groove, but this 12" is amazing. Vocal version is much better.
he WAS a don.

he is now DUN

peace
